Banned Books Week

Next week, October 1st-5th, is Banned Books Week. Libraries everywhere will celebrate the freedom to read with special displays, activities, and events. We will also be celebrating in our media center and can’t wait to host our major event of the week, the Banned Books Week Virtual Read-Out. Participants will select a banned or challenged book to read from for the project and all participants will be filmed for a video to be submitted to the American Library Association website. If we have enough student interest, we would also like to incorporate this project into a media festival submission. Don’t forget to watch for daily posts next week sharing some of the books that frequently make this list around the country. Start thinking now about some of your favorite banned or challenged books.  Let’s celebrate our freedom to read by pledging to read everyday next week!
